An African Mask that honors the influence and accomplishments of the Empresses and Queens in Mother Africa and around the world. Those that follow in the footsteps of matriarchs such as Amina: Queen of Zaria, Kandake: Empress of Ethiopia, Makeda: Queen of Sheba, Yaa Asantewa of the Ashanti Kingdom, Queen Nandi of the Zulu kingdom, and Queen Moremi of the Ife Kingdom. Learn, Live and Celebrate the Legacy!

This mask features earth tones and various shades and hues of brown.  Featuring embossed brass and aluminum accents. The brass and aluminium accents and etched dots motif represent African scarification.

Scarification is a form of African body art that was used for a variety of reasons depending upon the ethnic group. The process involves purposely scarring the skin to create raised marks and/or complete patterns. Some ethnic groups used scarification to represent strength, courage and bravery. Others use it to mark milestone stages or significant events in their lives and some use it as a way to identify with particular sects, clans or families within their ethnic group.

This mask measures approximately 20 inches (height), 4.9 inches (width) and 2.2 inches (depth). It is made out of Sese Wood, brass and aluminum. Weighs 1.4 lbs.

Handcrafted and imported from Ghana, your purchase helps support local Ghanaian artisans, their family and the community. Each item is handmade so there may be slight and subtle differences in size, color, and pattern. These slight differences are what makes each African Mask unique and a true work of art.
